“Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II” for Royal Artillery Woolwich by David Poole. 1975.
“I wanted to paint the The Queen as a woman rather than as The Queen, so I asked her whether we could change her cloak, badge and sash. She was very cooperative and we agreed on a plain white dress in the end.
A member of the Royal Household commented that it was the first time that he had seen the likeness of her father in a portrait so I felt I had succeeded.” - David Poole

“Oh, and you’re only allowed to wear sweat pants once a week”
THIS.
In the interview, William spoke of his nerves on the day of his wedding, saying: Honestly it was one of those days where you feel very elated. Also completely terrified.
I have to be honest, the prospect of two billion people watching was quite daunting.
I sort of steadied myself, with my brother, we were cracking some very bad jokes behind the altar before we were ready to come out, trying to settle the nerves.
It was very important to both Catherine and I that we gave a day that was true to ourselves because at the end of the day you’re getting married and I take that very seriously.
And as does she. So as much as it’s for the world to see, the personal aspect of it was very important to us.”
